Morning lovelies!  I have a confession to make.  Before getting my hands on Dani Harper’s books, I had never read a shifter book.  *gasp*  I know, right?  I’ve had Shiver in my TBR stack for months now, but had never gotten around to reading it.  Can I just say…

I’m so incredibly happy that CHANGELING MOON & CHANGELING DREAM were my first shifter reads!!!

Here’s a little more info about both books:

Prologue for Changeling Moon
By Dani Harper,
Author of Changeling Moon

The wolf wanted out.

Heavy clouds obscured the moon and washed the night with icy rain. The cold, damp air brought a myriad of intriguing scents.

The man slunk along the sidewalk, his limbs tingling as his body instinctively drew energy from the earth.

The wolf wanted out now.

Full of hunger and rage, the wolf writhed under the man’s skin in anticipation as he turned into a familiar alley behind the town hall. It was dark here, overgrown with trees and bushes, flanked with leaning fences, sagging garages, and numberless garbage
cans. There was a spot where no light reached, a perfect spot to—

The wolf snarled its impatience and he cursed back. He was trying to hurry, dammit, but his body refused to cooperate. To human eyes, he was just an old drunk, sixty going on eighty. In reality, he was far older than even those like him could guess. When his wolf wanted out, he could no longer keep it leashed for long. And truth be told, he didn’t want to. Because once he took on his lupine form, all his aches and pains would disappear and he’d be strong and powerful again.

The wolf within whispered: Tonight we will hunt. And become even stronger.

Changeling Moon Chapter One

Freezing rain sliced out of the black sky, turning the wet pavement to glass. Zoey stared out at the freakish weather and groaned aloud. With less than two days left in the month of April, the skies had been clear and bright all afternoon. Trees were budding early and spring had seemed like a sure bet. Now this. Local residents said if you didn’t like the weather this far north, just wait fifteen minutes. She gave it five, only to have the rain turn to sleet.

Perhaps she should have asked more questions before taking the job as editor of the Dunvegan Herald Weekly. She was getting the peace and quiet she’d wanted, all right, but so far the weather simply sucked. Winter had been in full swing when she’d arrived at the end of October. Wasn’t it ever going to end?

Sighing, she buttoned her thin jacket up to her chin and hoisted the camera bag to her shoulder in preparation for the long, cold walk to her truck. All she wanted was a hot shower, her soft flannel pajamas with the little cartoon sheep on them, the TV turned
to Late Night, and a cheese and mushroom omelet before bed. Hell, maybe just the omelet. She hadn’t eaten since noon, unless the three faded M&Ms she’d found at the bottom of her bag counted as food.

As usual, the council meeting for the Village of Dunvegan had gone on much too long. Who’d have thought that such a small community could have so much business to discuss? It was long after ten when the mayor, the councilors, and the remnants of
a long-winded delegation filed out. Zoey had lingered only a few moments to scribble down a couple more notes for her article but it was long enough to make her the last person out of the building.

The heavy glass door automatically locked behind her, the metallic sound echoing ominously. Had she taken longer than she thought? There wasn’t a goddamn soul left on the street. Even the hockey arena next door was deserted, although a senior men’s playoff game earlier had made parking difficult to find. Now, her truck – a sturdy old red Bronco that handled the snow much better than her poor little SUV had – was the only vehicle in sight.

The freezing rain made the three-block trek to the truck seem even longer. Not only did the cold wind drive stinging pellets of ice into her face, but her usual business-like stride had to be shortened to tiny careful steps. Her knee-high leather boots were strictly a fashion accessory – her bedroom slippers would have given her more traction on the ice. If she slipped and broke her ankle out here, would anyone even find her before morning?

The truck glittered strangely as she approached and her heart sank. Thick glass-like sheets of ice coated every surface, sealing the doors. Near-frozen herself, she pounded on the lock with the side of her fist until the ice broke away and she could get her key in. “Come on, dammit, come on!”

Of course, the key refused to turn, while the cold both numbed and hurt her gloveless fingers. She tried the passenger door lock without success then walked gingerly around to the rear cargo door. No luck there either. She’d have to call a tow –

Except that her cell phone was on the front seat of her truck.

Certain that things couldn’t get any worse, she tested each door again. Maybe one of the locks would loosen up if she kept trying. If not, she’d probably have to walk all the way home, and wasn’t that a cheery prospect?

Suddenly a furtive movement teased at her peripheral vision. Zoey straightened slowly and studied her surroundings. There wasn’t much to see. The streetlights were very far apart, just glowing pools of pale gold that punctuated the darkness rather than alleviating it. Few downtown businesses bothered to leave lights on overnight. The whispery hiss of the freezing rain was all that she could hear.

A normal person would simply chalk it up to imagination – but she’d been forced to toss normal out the window at an early age. Her mother, aunts and grandmother were all powerful psychics – and the gene had been passed down to Zoey. Or at least a
watered-down version of it. The talent was reliable enough when it worked, but it seemed to come and go as it pleased. Like right now. Zoey tried hard to focus yet sensed absolutely nothing. It was her own fault perhaps for trying to rid herself of the
inconvenient ability.

No extrasensory power was needed, however, to see something large and black glide silently from one shadow to another near the building she’d just left. What the hell was that? There was nowhere to go for help. Only the two bars would still be open but they were several blocks away, as was the RCMP detachment. There was a rundown trailer park a block and a half from the far side of the arena, but Zoey knew there were no streetlights anywhere along that route.

A dog? Maybe it’s just a big dog, she thought. A really big dog or a runaway cow. After all, this was a rural community. And a northern rural community at that, so maybe it was just a local moose, ha, ha…. She struggled to keep her fear at bay and redoubled her efforts on the door locks, all the while straining to listen over the sound of her own harsh breathing.

The rear door lock was just beginning to show promise when a low, rumbling growl caused her to drop her keys. She spun to see a monstrous shape emerge from the shadows, stiff-legged and head lowered. A wolf? It was bigger than any damn wolf had
a right to be. Jesus. Some primal instinct warned her not to run and not to scream, that the animal would be on her instantly if she did so.

She backed away slowly, trying not to slip, trying to put the truck between herself and the creature. Its eyes glowed green like something out of a horror flick, but this was no movie. Snarling black lips were pulled back to expose gleaming ivory teeth. The grizzled gray fur around its neck was bristling. Zoey was minutely aware that the hair on the back of her own neck was standing on end. Her breath came in short shuddering gasps as she blindly felt for the truck behind her with her hands, sliding her feet
carefully without lifting them from the pavement.

She made it around the corner of the Bronco. As soon as she was out of the wolf’s line of sight, she turned and half skated, half ran for the front of the truck as fast as the glassy pavement would allow. Don’t fall, don’t fall! It was a litany in her brain as she scrambled up the slippery front bumper onto the icy hood. With no hope of outrunning the creature and no safe place in sight, the roof of the truck seemed like her best bet – if she could make it. Don’t fall, don’t fall! Flailing for a handhold, she seized an
ice-crusted windshield wiper, only to have the metal frame snap off in her hand. She screamed as she slid back a few inches.

The wolf sprang at once. It scrabbled and clawed, unable to find a purchase on the ice-coated metal. Foam from its snapping jaws sprayed over her as the beast roared its frustration. Finally it slipped back to the ground and began to pace around the
truck.

Zoey managed to shimmy up the hood until she was able to put her back against the windshield with her knees drawn up to her chin. She risked a glance at the roof behind her – she had to get higher. Before she could move, however, the wolf attacked
again, scrambling its way up the front bumper. Vicious jaws slashed at her at her. Without thought, Zoey kicked out at the wolf, knocking one leg out from under it. It slid backwards but not before it clamped its teeth on her calf. The enormous weight of the
creature dragged at her and she felt herself starting to slide….

One hand still clutched the broken windshield wiper and she used it, whipping the creature’s face and muzzle with the frozen blade until she landed a slice across one ungodly glowing eye. The rage-filled snarl became a strangled yelp, the wolf released
her leg and slipped from the hood. This time Zoey didn’t look, just turned and launched herself upwards for the roof rack. She came down hard, adrenaline keeping her from feeling the impact of the bruising metal rails. She was only conscious of the desperate need to claw and grasp and cling and pull until she was safely on the very top of the vehicle.

Except she wasn’t safe. Not by a long shot. Crap. She could see plainly that she wasn’t high enough. Crap, crap, crap. The enraged wolf leapt upwards in spite of the fact that its feet could find little purchase on the ice-coated pavement. What it couldn’t gain in momentum, it made up for in effort, hurling itself repeatedly against the Bronco. Its snapping jaws came so close that Zoey could see the bleeding welts across its face, see that one of its hellish eyes was now clouded and half-closed. She slashed at it again, catching its tender nose so it howled in frustration and pain as it dropped to the ground. Snarling, it paced back and forth like a caged lion, watching her. Waiting.

The wind picked up and the freezing rain intensified. Huddled on her knees in the exact center of the icy roof, Zoey’s adrenaline began to ebb. She was cold and exhausted, and parts of her were numb. But she wasn’t helpless, she wouldn’t allow herself to think that way. The thin windshield wiper was badly bent and pieces of it were missing now, but she’d damn well punch the wolf in the nose with her bare fist if she had to. If she still could….

The wolf sprang again.

* * * *

Dr. Connor Macleod cursed himself for the hundredth time for not bringing another veterinarian into his practice. His family and friends, and particularly his receptionist, had been on his case about it for the past two years. He’d always handled everything
himself, but it was time to face facts: His practice had grown too large.

The second calving season of the year was in full swing and Connor had been out on farm calls since five o’clock that morning. He wouldn’t have minded except he’d only been in bed since four after performing an emergency caesarian on a heifer. That case had been touch and go for most of the night. He’d had a few choice words for the farmer who had bred the young animal to a bull of a much larger breed, creating a huge calf that couldn’t possibly be born on its own. The man had been defensive and angry, but Connor didn’t care. He had every patience with animals and none at all for those who deliberately misused them.

Right now he had no patience left for anything and the freakish weather didn’t improve his mood. He needed coffee. And food. And sleep, but that was less likely than the other two. Fortunately he wasn’t human and as long as he ate enough, his body could
deal with a serious sleep deficit – at least for a while.

As the lights of Dunvegan came into view, uneasiness twisted his gut. The ice storm had been far more intense here, the road glassed over and treacherous, yet his feelings had nothing to do with the driving conditions. He switched off the radio and pulled to the side of the road for a few moments, needing to think, to focus and unravel the sudden surge of energies he sensed.

Suddenly the darkness brightened as everything around him – the dashboard, his hands on the steering wheel, the road signs – began to glow with a silvery light. It was a phenomenon that only he could see, a precursor to farsight….

He yelled out. He couldn’t help it. A hideous premonition spawned a violent and bloody image in his mind. A woman was in terrible danger, and what was threatening her was no more human than he was.

In the blink of an eye the image was gone and the otherworldly light yielded to the natural darkness. Connor pulled back onto the deserted highway and sped towards the village, heedless of the glaring ice. The truck had studded tires and four-wheel drive, both necessary in harsh northern winters and unpredictable northern springs, and Connor was a skilled driver. Nevertheless, his pickup stayed on the road largely because he willed it to. The vehicle fishtailed repeatedly but recovered each time as he drove into town and turned onto a side street.

Close. He knew he was close, he could feel it. Suddenly he swung hard onto Hemstock Avenue – where a huge wolf leapt at a parked truck. He leaned on the horn and stepped on the accelerator as the snarling creature fell back into the road. One eye flashed green in the bright headlights, as it turned to look at the oncoming truck –

My thoughts:

Dani Harper has made me a McLeod brother addict and I’m not ashamed to admit it!  This series is absolutely phenomenal.  All of Dani Harper’s characters are so rich and full of depth that you can’t help but feel what they feel and see what they see.   Weaving a werewolf tale of intense emotion, Dani Harper has left nothing out.  Every aspect of the town, the people, the conflict and even the most asked werewolf question (what happens to their clothes?) has been answered in the CHANGELING novels.  Spellbinding and inventive, this series will suck you in, hook, line, and sinker, and leave you jonesing for the next book in the series.

CHANGELING MOON rating:  5/5!

CHANGELING DREAM rating:  4.5/5!

(Just FYI… the only reason Changeling Dream didn’t get a 5/5 rating is because I fell head over heels in love with Conner McLeod (Changeling Moon), so his brother James (Changeling Dream) had a hard time topping Conner on the swoon meter. :)

Review: Piper’s Fury

Piper's Fury (Passion of the Soul, #1)Piper’s Fury by Rachel Firasek

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It’s an empath thing…

Using your “powers” to help the Dark Hills Police Department hunt down serial killers doesn’t leave much time for dating. Not that Piper Anast is complaining. The last thing she needs is some guy brushing up against her and pumping his pornographic thoughts into her head.

When she meets Bennett Slade, a sexy, tormented vampire, Piper stumbles headlong into a telepathic connection with his missing daughter. She can’t leave the kid to the evil surrounding her unwanted visions, nor can she resist her draw to Slade. He’s the first guy she’s been able to touch vision-free in, well, forever.

As she and Slade close in on the evil creature holding his daughter, Piper’s powers morph into a deadly fury. To save Slade’s daughter-and herself-Piper must face down demons she never knew she had and trust the one thing she keeps from everyone.

Her heart.

My Thoughts:

Rachel Firasek has created a page-turning story that is engaging, entertaining, and extremely enjoyable!

Her character creation is spot-on. Piper is such a fun character to read! Stubborn as hell, but she had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. Bennett Slade… what can I say except: more please! *swoon* If ever there was a strong, sexy vamp to steal my heart, it’s Slade. So strong, so honest, so sexy, and so loving. The entire package plus a set of fangs = Bennett Slade.

I also have to mention Rachel’s writing capabilities. Many times when reading a book, little things happen that makes the reader wonder if it will be significant later on, but then they turn out to be pointless tidbits of information. Absolutely NOT the case with Rachel Firasek. On more than one occasion, I found myself raising my eyebrows and saying “A-ha! So that’s why [insert character name here] did that”. Rachel weaves a tale full of little intricacies that braid together in the end perfectly.

I recommend this book is for any reader 18+ who loves a good paranormal read.

Rating: 4/5!

Character Interview with Seth & Danann from "Danann Frost Falls From Grace" by Joanne Valiukas

(originally posted in 2010)
Danann Frost Falls From Grace by Joanne ValiukasMorning, lovelies!  I’m so very excited today!  As you probably already know, Danann Frost Falls From Grace by Joanne Valiukas is my new all time favorite book.  Joanne has managed to get the two leading characters, Seth and Danann,  together for an interview here on my blog today!  YAY!

This interview is just a bit different from others you may have seen, though.  I let the fans on Joanne’s facebook fan page write most of the questions!  Who better to ask than the die hards, right? hehehe…

So, without further ado, I give you Seth and Danann.

Theresa: Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy lives to chat with us today!  Oh… and Danann, please pay no mind if I stare at Seth.  It really is something I just can’t control.    *blush*

(Danann just smiles and nods with a look of understanding on her face.)

Theresa: Alrighty, then.  *clears throat*  This first question is from Michelle to Seth

“How did you manage to hold yourself together for all those 200 years you and Danann were separated? How did you not turn evil? What is it that kept you going?”

Seth: It is in our very natures to be dark. Loneliness is the greatest debilitator but our instincts keep us going by making us cold. On the inside, I was so cold and dark that I was able to shut emotion away for the most part. It is not like pain and sadness but more like…the absence of happiness. I had obligations to my people once I became King and it was that sense of honour alone that kept me going. Without Danann, I would otherwise have sought the oblivion of true-death. As for evil…we are all evil in our own ways and I am a predator but a predator that had learned of love and felt the touch of tender gentleness. It was something that changed me for all time.

Theresa: Totally get that.  That also explains why your people saw you as such a tough guy. *wink*

Michelle also had a question for you, Danann.

“You have seen and experienced so much of the changing world over the last 200 years, what fascinates you most? And what is your favourite lazy day activity with Seth?”

Danann: It is true, I have seen much over the last 200 years and the advancement of technologies. The thing that has fascinated me the most would have to be an interesting cinema concept that they have in Australia. As you know, when I was living in Melbourne, I often went to the movies with my friends, particularly with Vaira. They have what they call ‘Gold Class Cinema’ which is a full-sized cinema with around 24 Jason Recliners in it. There is a table in between each pair of recliners and they offer waiter service. These are the only seats in the movie and there is truly nothing like watching a movie with your chair reclined, sipping wine (and they even serve churros with chocolate!) and it is very decadent. You should all try it. The last time we were in Melbourne, I made Seth come with me and he was surprised at how brilliant it was. I heard him later telling Booth (you’ll see who he is in the sequel Danann Frost Embraces the Darkness) that he wanted to install such a cinema in the castle and that he was to ‘see it done’. You know how imperious Seth can be but I had to laugh.

Theresa: Sounds divine!  If I ever get to Melbourne, I’ll have to check it out!
.
.
.
.
.
.
(Danann waves her hand in front of Theresa to bring her back from her daydream.)

Theresa: (red faced and stuttering)  F-forgive me, Danann.  I told you that I just couldn’t help myself.  (Danann giggles.)

So, moving on…  the next question is for Seth and is from Stephanie.

“If there was one thing that you could change in your immortal life, What would it be?…Apart from being mortal, that is!”

Seth: If there was one thing that I could change in my immortal life, it would not be to become mortal, because I never was mortal. I was born vampire. To me, that is like asking if you could change one thing about yourself, would it feel natural to become a cat. No…I’ve thought long and hard about this question because there are two things that I fundamentally believe: one is that you can’t change the past and two, is that you have to move forward with the times. This means that anything I wanted to change, I did so by making a choice. There is however, one change that could I go back and change it, I would do so and that would be to forever and always protect Danann. I failed her so many times and in so many ways…she didn’t deserve any of it.

Theresa: *swoon*  Tall, dark, handsome, and completely loyal.  *Sigh*….. they just don’t make them like you anymore, Seth.

Ok!  Danann, Elita wants to know:

“What was your favorite Angel thing to do before you met Seth and fell from Grace?”

Danann: My favourite thing to do on this plane of existance when I was still an Angel is actually answered in the book. Although I cannot recall if it is in the first or second but I’ll tell you anyway because it won’t spoil anything. I used to love communing with nature and mans’ achievements. I would sit on the top of a mountain or the edge of a glacier and just absorb all the natural splendour. One of my favourite places was to sit atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris and look out over the city of lights. You should try it, it’s a great feeling.

Theresa: That would be amazing!  So peaceful and serene…

Danann, this one is also for you.  Sarah was wondering:

“Seeing Seth for the first time at Bulla, and realising you were in bed together must have freaked you out a little…what were the deeper thoughts for you at the time?”

Danann: Of course seeing Seth after 200 years freaked me out, not only that but I woke to find myself in bed and…intimate with him. I know that you’ll say that I should have been expecting it but truly…I wasn’t; certainly not after so very long. My only thought was of escape, I couldn’t handle the fear and the welling of emotion. Everything was so overwhelming I just wanted it to stop and there was only one way that I knew for that to happen. Truthfully though, I don’t think that I really thought about what I was doing, I think it was survival instinct or something.

(Theresa thinks to herself… “No way in hell would I run if I woke up to Seth in my bed!” yowsa!)

Theresa: um, yeah… I bet that was hard to deal with, Danann.  *rolls eyes*

Next up, Katrina has a question for both of you:

Seth and danann, your favourite book you read together ? movie and best night out?”

Seth: Our favourite book to read together is Where the wild things are by Maurice Sendak. Danann will tell you otherwise, she will probably say….anything by Anne Bishop, the Black Jewels books but the truth is…Where the wild things are.
Danann: Don’t tell them that, I’ll look like a simpleton.
Seth: My Goddess, they would not dare think such a thing, you are the most beautiful, intelligent, witty creature that ever existed.

(Danann gives him a dirty look and turns back to Theresa) We love to watch movies and we both like actions and comedies. I also like disaster movies like 2012 or The Day After Tomorrow.

Seth: I like vampire movies. They are so ludicrously funny. I took Danann to see a play based on Dracula; I laughed so hard that Danann made us leave. She said it wasn’t supposed to be funny, it was supposed be tragic and that I was upsetting the other patrons.
Danann: Well you were. It was a nice night out though. Afterwards we went for a stroll down by the beach. I wanted to wait for the warm pink of the sun to begin lighting the sky but Seth said it was too dangerous, so he dragged me home.

Theresa: LOL… you two are adorable when you argue.  Seth, Katrina has a question for just you:

“How did you feel the first moment you saw Danann after 200 years at the nightclub? what would be the other first question you would ask, besides why did you leave me? how did you contain yourself?”

Seth: It was very difficult containing the burning anger and resentment within me. For someone who had been cold for 200 years, my emotions were suddenly raging hot. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from Danann though she was with someone else. My instincts actually demanded that I murder my rival, take Danann and go; worrying about any fall-out later but some tiny sense of sanity calmed me enough to know that that was not the way. I didn’t exactly care why she left and never came back by then, she was to be mine and that was really the only thought in my head. Mia drove me nuts with all her inane chatter and when she started with the ‘Banriona’ business…(he chuckles) let’s just say that Mia’s bubbleheadedness forced me to be the sensible one.

Theresa: Ohh… I adore Mia!  What’s not to love?  You must give her a hug for me when you see her next!

Seth, another question for you.  This time from Amanda.

“How blind could you have been. I mean seriously, your mother and sister? Bitches! How could you not have seen?”

Seth: I feel very stupid and regretful over this one. All I can say in my defense is that it never occurred to me that they would do this to me. I now understand that they thought they were harming Danann but really, they were harming me and it never occurred to me that they would try to destroy me like that. I always knew that they were selfish but I did not know that they had so much poison in them. I can never apologise to Danann enough (he winks) but I shall enjoy making it up to her, if I get the chance. (Seth has a very hopeful look on his face.)

Theresa: Ack!  Sexiness oozing from every pore… *sigh*

Seth & Danann, Stephanie has an interesting question for the both of you:

“I would love it if you two got together and had a baby is that a possibility?”

Seth: Well, I am very hopeful that this is a permenant relationship, I have every intention of making it so. The only problem is, my fate is in the hands of Danann and the Goddess author, Joanne Valiukas. I have made it very clear to her what my desires are but I also know that she, just like Danann are very single minded and determined when they get an idea in their heads. I’ll just have to keep sweet-talking them. (He grins).
As for having children, I cannot…I am an undead vampire and to tell you that I am dead, dead, dead but can somehow produce live sperm…I don’t think so. That would be ridiculous.

Theresa: I have no doubt that your sweet talking methods are very effective, Seth.  *giggle*   The rest of the questions are from me.  :)

Danann, You spent 200 years thinking that Seth no longer wanted you. Did the thought ever cross your mind that maybe you had misunderstood what he meant when he told you to leave that day??? Your love was so strong, I think I would’ve at least came back and asked him what the hell he meant.

Danann: What you say is true but you have to understand my mindset at the time. Uriel had just torn me to pieces and tried to steal my soul. I Fell From Grace and crashed to earth believing that Seth would make it all better but he told me to go and never come back. Rebirthing makes you crazy for weeks afterward anyway and if that time had passed I probably would have gone back but I had been brutalised and beaten to near death. If I had been human I probably would have died. By the time I could move with a modicum of pain, months and months had passed and I had convinced myself of the truth that Seth did not want me. It is in the nature of the human to make these kinds of judgements and for the first time, I had become to some degree, human.

Theresa: I can see where you’re coming from, to a degree.  I guess I’m just such a softy that I would have reacted differently.

(Theresa turns her attention to Seth, her eyes sparkling with awe for the man sitting just feet away)

Seth, When you discovered that Danann’s lock of hair was missing from your room, didn’t you have some kind of inkling that there was foul play happening there? After all, not everyone had access to your room.

Seth: It seems crazy now but at the time, I assumed that if a maid had not cleared it away and was afraid to confess the truth of it, that perhaps Danann herself, had removed it. It was a desolate time for me.

Theresa: Understandable.  Love makes us think and do come crazy things. *smiles*
(Theresa turns to Danann with a look of disgust on her face)

Danann… Oh, Danann.  Girl, you are one stubborn vixen sometimes! I’d still like to slap you for a few things you did, but since you eventually took Seth back, I’ll forgive you. Ever think maybe you were just a tad too hard on the guy that calls you “My Goddess”?? *swoon*

Danann: It wasn’t my fault! The great creator, Joanne Valiukas creates women with minds of their own. Women who don’t take crap from men and stand up for themselves. She made me real and flawed and brave (her words) and gentle and brazen and gutsy and stubborn and opinionated and all the things that she believes a woman should be with a very important character trait…always take responsibility for the things that you say and do and that is exactly the kind of woman I have tried to be. Besides…Seth doesn’t really mind. It is in his nature to chase me afterall (she gives Seth a cheeky, sidelong glance and smile), he is a predator. (Seth nods vigorously.)

Theresa: One more question for each of you, and then I’ll let you get back to your bliss.

Danann, You choose to give up one of the highest positions in heaven for your love. Any regrets?

Danann: It is hard to regret what you never knew or ever felt after you have experienced love; the kind of love that Seth and I were sharing. Looking back, do I have any regrets? Only time will tell. Guess we’ll all find out in the sequel.

Theresa: Geez, Joanne must have vowed you both to  secrecy about that sequel.  Must have a talk with her. *laughs*

Last by not least… Seth: Is there anyone anywhere JUST LIKE YOU?? If so, what will it take for you to introduce me?? *batting eyelashes* hehehe…

Seth: (Seth laughs) Thanks for the compliment Theresa but that is a question better asked of the Great Goddess Joanne Valiukas. She told me that she made me one of a kind, although she has told Danann that she has a few other ‘Bad boys with hearts of gold’ coming along to share with you. Maybe one of them might catch your fancy. For me…I’m hoping that I’m already taken… permanently but if I come across Soren, Morgan or Dash and I get the chance, of course I’ll introduce you.

Theresa: (Theresa does a little dance in her seat)  That would be amazing, Seth!  If I can’t have you, I’m going to have to settle for another.  Only problem is that they might have some trouble living up to my expectations now.  *blushes*

Thank you both so much for chatting with me today!  Danann, please excuse my jealous mouth… I just don’t know when to shut up sometimes. LOL  Seth, I’ll be waiting for that introduction. *grin*

Danann: Thank you Theresa for this lovely opportunity to chat, both Seth and I are very keen to see for ourselves what is next and what Joanne has in store for us. I have my own ideas (and hopes) but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Seth: I’ve tried bribing. I have my own publishing house but Joanne says that the right publisher will come along at the right time, I can only hope that she is right because I have big plans and those plans include Danann.
(Danann laughs) Ah, but do my plans include you? (She collapses in a fit of laughter as Seth lifts her onto his knees and holds her tightly.)

*If you haven’t checked out Joanne’s book yet, you must!  I’m telling you, you will not regret it.  The first 100 pages or so can be read on her website:  http://www.joannevaliukas.com and the book can also be purchased from there.  Pssst… the ebook is only $2.99!!!

This book is my new all time favorite. I want everyone to understand that I am not a pushover when it comes to my reviews. Rarely do I ever give a book a 5/5 rating. There have only been a few books throughout my life that I would give that rating to, and I am so excited to say that THIS BOOK IS ONE OF THEM!

Joanne creates a story that pulls you in from the very first page! The world building is fantastic and Joanne doesn’t leave the reader wondering about anything. She covers every aspect with great detail, to the point where you can literally see the world she’s describing.

Seth and Danann, the main characters, are absolutely perfect! Not perfect in the true sense of the word, but perfectly ‘real’. It was extremely easy to relate to both of them, and I instantly fell in love! Their romance is beautiful, complicated, and far reaching, which makes this an extremely touching read. The emotions are raw and real, and I’m not ashamed to say that at certain points in the book, I was wishing I could reach out and smack both of them! Along with the supporting characters, who never overshadow the main characters, Seth and Danann embark on a journey full of love, trouble, and an emotional roller coaster.

I honestly tried to think of something that could be improved in this book. I like to give my readers both sides of the story by including any faults, but I couldn’t find anything wrong with this one! I recommend this book to anyone 18 or older, and at the price of $2.99 for the ebook, you owe it to yourself to give it a try! You can read a teaser of the book on Joanne’s website if you want to try it before you buy it, but I assure you… you will love this book!

As a self published author, Joanne is a master at her craft and I hope she will be discovered soon! I have spoken with her on occasion and she has informed me that she has another complete series written, just waiting for a publisher.

PUBLISHERS- you need to look into this author! I can promise you that you will not be sorry if you do!
My Rating: 5/5 fairies!!

Review: Tears on a Tranquil Lake

Tears on a Tranquil LakeTears on a Tranquil Lake

by Marsha A. Moore

Published February 1st 2011 by MuseItHot
ISBN:  9781926931296

My rating: 3 of 5 fairies

What a surprise for a young woman, to find herself suddenly transformed into a mermaid.

Ciel’s first thought – track down the merman who changed her and make him reverse his magic. Unable to find him, survival in her new world becomes paramount. She eagerly accepts help from a dashing pirate captain who takes a fancy to her, lavishing her with finery.

When her merman does show up, he competes for her affection. One look into his eyes makes her life more complex — he is her soul mate.

Which man will she choose – pirate captain or merman? Which life – human or mermaid? Caribbean adventures and dangers chase Ciel as she searches for decisions and the key to her happiness.

Warning: This book contains Haitian vodou, sultry wenches, foul-mouthed scalliwag pirates, overindulgence of fine Caribbean rum, and amorous encounters on deserted beaches.

Review:

“Tears on a Tranquil Lake” was a short, enjoyable read, but was missing some explanations that I think were important to the plot. Marsha Moore weaves a wonderful tale about Ciel, a girl turned mermaid who is facing the decision of which man to be with. Her writing was clear and the story flowed well, but some of the relationship aspects were too unreal for me.

The author did a wonderful job of creating a world that was detailed, interesting, and believable. Her descriptions made me feel as though I was in the story with Ciel as she traversed the waters and explored the deck of the pirate ship.

Overall, “Tears on a Tranquil Lake” was worth reading. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quick, fantastical tale, and who doesn’t mind a few unanswered plot points that leave you wondering “how?”.

Rating:  3/5 fairies!
